Pros

Starting pay with no experience is good. (Grocery pays the best) Good Benefits (Discounts, 401K, med, dental, optical, etc) Friends I work with. I've worked all of the major box stores as an LP person and Freds by far is the best of them all but is starting to fail!)

Cons

Management staff will walk past an issue and then call their associates to handle it. It's pretty much an us and them mentality. If you work in Grocery it is union and your pay will be decent. Other areas of The store aren't matched up. Starting pay is good but you will never see a raise no matter how hard you work or how loyal and dependable you are. New hires will make more than you despite your length of service. NEVER take a PIC position as you will handle everything for the same pay your staff gets and will have no say in correcting issues or associate problems. Moral is at an all time low with long term associates. They see new hires make more money with no time in or experience. No one follows policy anymore, managers ignore issues and don't support the staff and correct the ones needing it. Unless you go into a managers position, don't take the advancement. BUT, the job will be miserable because you won't have staff and Corporate will ride you all the time.

Pros

If you have good relationship with your manager and you can trust them to have your back, it is an amazing place to work, and you will find success easy.

Cons

If you have lost the confidence of your manager, or have bad communication with your manager, it makes it very hard to be seen and be successful.

Pros

Job can be fun and interesting Always something new to learn Lots of personal fulfillment as a manager when things go right

Cons

Unsupportive upper management Toxic work culture, unpaid overtime is rewarded and even expected or forced, even to the tune of multiple weeks in a row with no days off when you are salaried. They claim to support work life balance but even the smallest effort to set boundaries is heavily punished. Not paid as much as we should be for everything we have to do and deal with
