Pros

Free tap water (all you can drink)

Cons

Not in any particular order: They are NOT paperless lol they use cardboard folders (make sure to bring your rubberbands to wrap the files) They use this software that is in DOS environment! No 401K matching No Medical flex spending Most people have attitude No work-life balance No training upon employment The job description that I was told and promised during the interview were way different with reality They just hired me for the busy season (because they were short in staff) causing me to leave my previous job where I was very comfortable High turn-over (there must be something that so many people leave!)

Freemark Financial Response

We are sorry you had a negative experience, but we pride ourselves on being transparent and forthcoming with interview candidates and their recruiters in order to find the best fit possible. Sometimes we find with new employees that their skill set isn't a match for the role we hired them for, in that case we need to part ways to ensure our clients are getting the best service possible. We are still searching for a good candidate to thrive in a firm where more complex client matters exist so this is definitely not a tax season only position. We also appreciate the feedback about work/life balance, as this is something we have put a lot of thought into improving the past few years. We think we've made great strides, but at the end of the day we are tax accountants, and the months of March & April will always be busy for us! The bookkeeping software program we use, Datafaction, is widely considered to be the industry standard for business management firms. In addition we also use Prosystem, Slack, and Salesforce. While we are happy to offer free tap water :), we also provide full beverage fridges, an espresso machine, and catered lunches and dinners during tax season.

Pros

Pros: - Great entry way for new grads: If you put in the work, management is there to support and teach you the ropes. The firm is small enough that you can ask for support from anyone: Partners/managers/account managers/bookkeepers/etc. You must be willing to ask, because everyone is there to help - especially if you're experience is more green. Good mix of green individuals and accomplished/seasoned staff. - HR is extremely helpful. They are very understanding if there are things outside of work that may occur - like running late, needing to WFH, etc. This is a PRIVELEGE, and not a right - as I am referring to situations that happen every once in a while. But you can tell that they care about their employees situations and find appropriate solutions to support their staff. - Work/Workload can be challenging at times, but if you use the right resources and communicate effectively - it can be very gratifying. This may depend on an individual's perspective on whether or not this is a pro, but having that opportunity to take on challenges is a great thing in my book. - Beautiful Office in Beverly Hills, well supplied with snacks and beverages, Wine Wednesdays and occasional Happy Hours are a plus.

Cons

Cons: - Less of a con, more of what you should expect in this line of business - it gets extremely busy during tax season. You must be able to manage your priorities. But when communicating with management - they support in mitigating your list. Either taking some tasks off your workload or seeing if there are ways to make your work more efficient, etc. But this is key as to why I believe in the Leadership at our firm - they know when to accelerate or hit the brakes and, most importantly, will take the time review your processes and see how you can be more efficient in them. - Wish we had more presence on social media/linkedin/glassdoor etc. I've had lots of growth since starting at Freemark and am very proud of being apart of our little community - thus the reason I wanted to make this honest review in 2024 for any job seekers looking into the company. When researching Freemark while I was going through the interview process, I couldn't get much current news about the firm (im assuming due to the implications of COVID), so I hope this review helps.
