Pros

Being a student, I enjoyed working with other students. The majority of customers are students as well. In my opinion, expectations (from employer and customers) is a little more relaxed than other grocery stores I've been in

Cons

Long days, late hours (for a part-time employee). During peak hours, the deli gets very busy. It's clearly a job for people who need money as opposed to wanting to work for Fresh Market. I left for a summer and when I came back, they had terminated my worker account. Because of this, I wasn't being paid the first month(s) after I came back. I mentioned this to multiple manageres weeks prior to leaving for another job and I and only when I got corporate offices involved was I paid for nearly 2 months of work.

Pros

The work is painfully easy and the deli manager was amazing. She is clear about what she expects from her employees and management was pretty good about giving people their requested time off. There were plenty of hours to go around, and opportunities to fill in other roles if more hours were desired (ie grocery delivery driving, catering, etc).

Cons

Everyone is so stoned at work. The cashiers, the deli workers, the customers; it's fine when you're in college because nothing feels real anyway, but I can't imagine working in that store as a whole adult. Props to the adults holding the place together--cannot be easy managing a crew of college kids Personally I was fired by someone who no longer works at the company: I asked for time off because my family member was in the hospital, and when she THOUGHT she saw me around town and not with my ailing parent, she took me off the schedule and cut contact. Her name was Kim and I believe she's gone. I lost my 401k and Pay was around $9 an hour
