Pros
Use to be many good things but nothing worthy of mentioning anymore.
Cons
Fundamental Media is a masterclass in poor leadership, promoting toxic directors, and a culture driven by fear rather than respect. The CEO is performative especially in town halls. These meetings are not conversations, they are lectures. The tone is dismissive and clearly designed to shut people down. Any talk of openness or transparency is contradicted. People leave these sessions anxious and demoralised, not motivated. The CEO is relentlessly focused on squeezing more profit by asking employees to work harder and longer, yet appears completely detached from the day-to-day pressure everyone else is under (loves his time in Monaco)! It’s hard to take constant productivity sermons seriously when they come from someone who seems more interested in luxury optics than investing back into business. We are constantly told how valued we are and how growth and recognition are coming, yet pay progression, promotions, and rewards rarely follow. Hard work in office, late evenings and then networking with publishers after office hours, all these are expected as a given, not acknowledged. Promises are made publicly (bonus) and then easily forgotten. To add insult to injury, CEO’s cynical attitude towards WFH sums up the wider culture. Flexible working is treated with suspicion rather than trust. Presenteeism matters more than output- the hallmarks of a business you should run away from. Even worse is who gets rewarded. Toxic directors are protected while genuinely capable and supportive leaders such as the London MD are being pushed out. The message is clear: aggression and ego are valued more than competence and people management. Accountability does not exist at senior levels. When things go wrong, blame is pushed downward. Junior staff do all the work, carry the pressure while leadership avoids responsibility. Turnover is high for a reason. Talented people leave because they are exhausted, undervalued, and fed up with an environment built on intimidation and empty promises.
