Pros
The place is being held up by hard working operational staff
Cons
Incompetent management who will do anything to climb the ladder or make bonus but will do nothing that pertains to proper staff training or safe operational practice. Management will shift blame to operational staff and throw them under a bus to maintain a contract without the awareness that it is incompetent G4S management behavior that is killing stakeholder relationships. Management churn contracts due to an arrogance and narcissism that lacks the self reflection and introspection necessary to improve corporate performance. Adding an ethical values statement to an email stamp does not make an ethical organisation - your actions do! High level management do not properly investigate why contracts are running poorly with their more junior management. Both levels are so operationally unaware that their 'go-to' method for stakeholder re-engagement to repair poorly running contracts is to continually offer operational 'sweetners' that may not be in the best interest for the client. This then creates an increased workload for operational staff to deliver such sweetners. This is all when the real resolution to many government contract problems are; ensure strong operational structures and protocols are in place, deliver strong training to staff and to deliver a strong product that does not break down - and if it does take break down - take responsibility for it! G4S often lies by attempting to either deny a contractual breach has occurred or by shifting the blame on to a third party in the hope that the government stakeholder is dumb enough to believe the garbage we just fed them.
