Pros

Exposure to a wide range of clients, from SMB through to large enterprise environments, working across the Atlassian platform. The role provides strong hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and varied project types. Flexible working arrangements are available, including work-from-home depending on the role and engagement. The organisational structure is relatively flat, which allows for accessible communication with leadership and minimal hierarchy barriers. Project work varies in duration, from short engagements through to longer-term implementations, providing a broad range of delivery experiences. In some cases, consultants will lead engagements independently. Overall, this is a strong environment for gaining hands-on consulting experience, particularly early in your career, but it’s important to understand the delivery expectations and operating model before joining.

Cons

Leave flexibility beyond standard entitlements can be limited at times, and approval for additional leave may require escalation. Resourcing models often involve a single consultant owning an engagement end-to-end. While this can provide strong ownership and experience, it can also increase pressure during delivery, particularly when balancing timelines, leave, or unexpected absences. Delivery management capacity can be stretched, which may result in consultants taking on additional responsibilities such as project coordination, documentation, and planning alongside delivery work. Billable utilisation expectations are consistent with the consulting industry, but extended periods of back-to-back engagements can make it challenging to allocate time for upskilling and keeping pace with frequent platform changes. Some processes and internal concerns have been raised over time, and while there is a strong and committed team culture, improvements in certain areas may take time to materialise. Certain policies, including training agreements and post-employment conditions, are important to review carefully to ensure full understanding prior to signing. The role can also extend beyond delivery into client coordination and engagement management activities. For some, this provides broader experience; for others, it may feel outside the expected scope of a pure consulting role.
