Pros
I tried for nearly 30 minutes to think of the pros of working here and the best I could come up with is there are a few nice people. I guess if you want to work somewhere that will not reprimand you for playing games on your phone while everyone else is working then apply to be a machinist.
Cons
I was hired by this company as a Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer. I learned immediately that the company was entirely misrepresented despite my pleas with the hiring agent to be completely transparent because I had a negative experience with another company that I didn’t want repeated. CT manufacturing companies are desperately trying to fill their skilled roles to no avail. There are countless mediocre employers that are only concerned with meeting demands and not at all concerned with your career or well being. Garkenyon is one of those companies. Long term employees have declared ownership over everything down to the collets. Any idea that isn’t their idea is a bad idea regardless of merit. It’s impossible to work there without enduring constant hostility and adversity. One employee threatened me with his legally registered firearm. Another individual tries to sabotage your work. To make things worse management will not support you when you ask for intervention. They will minimize the severity of the situation for fear of not being able to replace them regardless of proof or corroboration. I was reprimanded for writing emails to upper management expressing what I was encountering because “they’re discoverable in legal investigations”. The president of the company stands outside daily to intimidate people who walk in too close to the starting bell but will do nothing when you tell him certain people are playing on their phones. There is not a single person who is not disgruntled and the morale is depressing.
