Pros

A few of the people were great to meet and work alongside.

Cons

I would not recommend a role in the Clinical Lab department- • The management lacks leadership and understanding of how to run a department. For example, they will tell candidates applying for a CLS position that you will be performing mobile lab testing, working 4 days a week, when in fact, that is actually not the case and will not happen until many many months down the road (maybe). • Upon arrival, you will be given a laptop and a desk and will be required to write SOP's, manuals, data analysis reports, etc. Basically- "we don't know how this works, we need you to figure it out for us." • This place is being built from the ground up, so there is no structure, no organization, and an incompetent leadership to drive it all. • They make their Clinical lab department sound very enticing, but I would caution anyone seeking employment in this lab. It's not all they paint it to be.

Genalyte Response

Genalyte launched it's Clinical Department in 2017. The clinical road map has required a great deal of work up front to create structure, SOPs and allocate resources. Although we try to be very clear about the start-up nature in the hiring process, the reality once a new hire joins can be challenging for some to adapt to. The reality of Genalyte is that we are still growing and building- it's part of what makes this an exciting place to work. We recognize that we have an extremely fast paced environment. Those who are the most successful in this setting are individuals who are able to learn very quickly- we're talking about a 3 week learning curve versus a 3 month learning curve. This is not the norm and we know this, so try our best to recruit those who are comfortable with this, interested in wearing many hats and happiest when rolling up their sleeves to build something great!

I felt like the division of work among team members was excellent and made for a very efficient workflow. I was exposed to various fields of engineering and gained a multitude of skills that will help me throughout my career.
