Pros

Mostly a good team who care about the work that is being done.

Cons

So many. A culture of distrust is nurtured. The owner likes to create a culture of uncertainty and refuses to be transparent. She does not like (discourages) staff developing friendships in other departments. The owner views her employees as disposable and changes duties, schedules and hours at her whim. Often leaving employees uncertain if their position is secure from day to day. The culture is just toxic. Some employees care, but the owner does not care for staff as individuals with a life outside of Genemarkers. Favoritism is alive and well allowing for unprofessional and down right disrespectful, threatening behavior from certain team members. It is often difficult to get straight answers on the simplest questions including benefits and such. If you want a company that sucks your soul, works you for all your worth, and leaves you with no job satisfaction than this place is for you.

Pros

Friendly colleagues, getting to work along side accomplished Master's and PhD holders is educational - Great mix of fun and challenges resulting in career growth. Management is transparent with staff expectations, communicates mission assignments with clear direction. Great health benefits, ample PTO/paid sick leave, and a Roth contribution matching program—definitely a good fit if you like being treated as a human being.

Cons

Both paid and free parking in the area, need to pay attention where you park.

Pros

Child-like snacks, although many times were refilled with expired items

Cons

Work here if you LOVE to be micromanaged and not trusted to do your job (even if you are more than qualified for the position). The CEO’s business skills are lacking. Management across all departments are poor with communication and resistant to feedback. The CEO scientific integrity is pliable to the wants of sponsors - will cherry pick data to give sponsors ‘favorable’ results. Fires competent, talented staff on a whim by ‘eliminating’ the position and hires a replacement within days. Incredibly unprofessional, toxic work environment. Pay is lower than job market standards.
