Cool work…there is no place that you can work on US Submarines. Job Security, Electric Boat has work for the next 20-30 years. Flexible Schedules. Flexibility to change jobs within the company via rotations or transfers.
Cons
Toxic workplace culture. Poor management…many supervisors/managers, directors and VP don’t value the employees. Difficult for minorities to get promoted or enter management. Nepotism runs rampant. Parking is terrible in Groton & worse in New London. Racism exists and can go unchecked. If you’re a BIPOC, understand that moving up will be difficult, especially in engineering. BIPOC don’t get promoted to supervision and often times don’t get raises that are in line with their talent. Shady promotions and internal hiring practices. Vacations/holidays, you’re forced to float all holidays for Christmas shutdown or use vacation for a time the company is closed. Paid FMLA was taken away and then brought back at a reduced time (only one week). No people of color in management (only a handful in a 17,000 person company), only white men and woman.
