Pros

The people that do care do wonderful work. Always liked the location of the Scottsdale campus. Inexperienced workers will get hired pretty easily to replace those older workers who've been let go. Facilities at Scottsdale campus seem to be going through a facelift, which is needed.

Cons

Management fostered an environment of finger-pointing within projects. If something went wrong during testing and integration, change requests were written against you whether the problem was with your part or not. Middle management doesn't care to get to know the workers under them. Layoffs occur every few months, but in small numbers so that local media never reported on it. Morale was low because everyone heard of a new layoff occurring every other month. GD will rush to hire new employees fresh out of school to replace the more experienced employees they laid off just a few weeks before. Top management only cares about the bottom line. In their quarterly earnings email. Employees were not only shown how GDC4 was doing in their benchmarks, but they also highlighted what projects were being single out for blame.

Pros

Good work life balance Projects matter for our war fighters Most co-workers are competent and dedicated More work than people, and moving to other engineering jobs is possible

Cons

Some numbskulls seem to get into senior positions. A "Consolidation" of buildings is underfunded, poorly planned, and drives chaos. The push to squeeze every nickel of efficiency means that there isn't always money for equipment or team building events (below the VP level).
