Business outlook
Pros
Good company with lots of benefits and opportunities when the wave was high. Easy to progress in your engineering and support career. Interesting engineering and procedural problems that needed solving. Lots of very good talent (though dwindling)
Cons
Dismal and depressing in the trough. Reducing headcount for more than three years with top notch senior (and senior) engineers being let go on a monthly basis. Benefits have eroded to be "competitive" and are not competitive with the companies that engineers are flocking to. The trough was apparent for over three years, but everyone seemed to think that "sequestration will never happen" - very bad preparation for the "lean times."
