Pros

- Great if you are a contractor (ie not a real GD employee, since they get paid for their overtime) - Approachable senior management - A lot of smart people

Cons

- Long, unpaid overtime. - The 9/80 bit they try to sell to you is a lie, I know no one whose project is actually on 9/80 - They have the ability to let you telework, but it is looked down upon. - No reward for putting in extra effort or doing a good job - If you do a good job, you will be the one fixing everyone else's mistakes - Pay increase is only based on time, not performance - No sick time included in benefits, if you get sick you need to use your vacation days - They put on a good facade during your interview session, but don't be fooled by the nice hotel rooms they put you up in. - Time off is a myth at GD - Little to no acknowledgment for a job well done

Pros

Good work life balance Projects matter for our war fighters Most co-workers are competent and dedicated More work than people, and moving to other engineering jobs is possible

Cons

Some numbskulls seem to get into senior positions. A "Consolidation" of buildings is underfunded, poorly planned, and drives chaos. The push to squeeze every nickel of efficiency means that there isn't always money for equipment or team building events (below the VP level).
