Pros

There is a sense of community at Georgia Tech. Everybody who works or studies here feels connected to their work, to their coworkers, and to the school in general. The location is easy to access, as it is in Midtown Atlanta and near the major public transportation providers. The school encourages communication between departments, which usually happens without a hitch. Most everybody is a team player. Having worked in multiple departments on campus, I can truthfully say that these facts are true across the board, particularly in Auxiliary Services and the other departments that fall under this one. Overall, I would recommend getting a job at Tech.

Cons

The Academic Department can be difficult to work with. This includes being a professor or working under a professor. In many instances, the professors are not at the Institution to teach, but to research. This skewed focus causes the students to be on edge, and the people who work with the professors (on behalf of the students) to become frustrated. Also, the overwhelming amount of construction that is constantly polluting our green space is highly disappointing. The limited amount of space allowed to the Institute, due to its location in the center of Atlanta, requires that green space be sacrificed so that more computer labs and library space may be built.

Pros

- Free Housing - Meal Plan - One of the better on campus job for students in my opinion (still able to be involved in other activities as a student on campus)

Cons

- Duty part of the job (Being on call and getting late night lock outs but this is rare), and definitely can still do homework in between doing duty rounds - experience can also depend on your hall director / area (but regardless still served on great RA teams, can be great if you have a co-ra but also been good at time being a single RA on the floor (no need to coordinate schedule if you do events together as a single RA unless you alternate events with your co)
