Pros

Research can be fun if you feel comfortable with your project and PI, and especially if you are a self starter. Support staff are great.

Cons

The pay and treatment are abysmal. It's impossible to live in anything other than squalor on the pitiful stipend. Some PIs (not mine, he was great) can be fairly cruel to their GRAs.

Pros

- Free Housing - Meal Plan - One of the better on campus job for students in my opinion (still able to be involved in other activities as a student on campus)

Cons

- Duty part of the job (Being on call and getting late night lock outs but this is rare), and definitely can still do homework in between doing duty rounds - experience can also depend on your hall director / area (but regardless still served on great RA teams, can be great if you have a co-ra but also been good at time being a single RA on the floor (no need to coordinate schedule if you do events together as a single RA unless you alternate events with your co)
