Pros

This is from an offshore field worker's perspective. Geoservices segment of Schlumberger's D&M has high job security. The managers know most of the employees by name, rather than as a "barcode" so to speak, unlike rest of D&M segment. Most managers very considerate of worker needs (e.g. family, medical). Good upward mobility compared to other mud logging companies (Schlumberger makes career progression almost mandatory). Variety higher specialities available. Continuous improvement in management and logistics. Constructive feedback is taken seriously. Safety reports are taken SUPER seriously. Compensation is okay for a mud logging service. Benefits are the same as rest of SLB (good). Higher pay grades scale better than starting pay and start to be comparable with other services, like MWD/LWD. Don't have an experience for comparison, but suspect that overall there is probably a lot less garbage to put up with than you normally would as part of a huge company.

Cons

This is from an offshore field worker's perspective Your experience will depend *highly* on your direct manager. Sometimes a lopsided work-life balance (too much or too little work) Higher management can be out of touch, but maybe because they answer to higher ups in Paris. Sometimes over-reactive rather than proactive, especially with safety reports. Don't always get perks (like merch/swag) compared to other Schlumberger segments. Pay can vary with oil market, but pretty steady compared to rest of D&M. Still mud logger pay, though. Total responsibilities for position increase over time (not related to seniority / time spent in field), many of them arbitrary idea from high management. "TPS reports" come to mind.
