Micro-management, especially in engineering teams No plan, no direction Ways to get promoted or get a hike = spend more hours at work when managers are around, have huge number of years of experience although unrelated Being smart, productive, hardworking have trivial weight compared to NUMBER of hours spent at work Good engineers are held chained with immigration needs due to incessant layoffs No diversity. Majority of the company across teams is represented by people of one country, which does not seem to be uncommon in the valley these days
