Pros
Other Staff. The people who work there are generally pretty good people.
The environment is generally quite laid back and stress free.
Cons
Investing zero effort into their staff. Many staff on minimum wage, even after being there years. Directors do not care managers fight for more money and get shot down, because investors come first. Yet throw money at staff when they’re on the verge of losing whole departments.
In the two years I was there at least 30 staff left. In a company that employs 45-50. Never have I ever seen a higher staff turnover.
Multiple staff doing the same job on different incomes, which is actually illegal - Equal Work for Equal Pay is a concept they do not grasp.
No gratitude or appreciation. The company used to reward its staff with generous bonus structure, all expenses paid christmas parties and regular thank you treats throughout the year. The most you get now is two drinks and a meal at Christmas. They used to also oay overtime when extra work was required- The attitude is now you should be able to get it done during working hours, if not its expected you work back. This has all happened since being brought out by Card Factory 3 years ago.
One staff member was even told they had to take a packed lunch on a day trip to London, because they would not cover lunch expenses - This was after travelling from Manchester at 6am and returning home near midnight and having to catch a later train to save a few quid.
