Pros
The public sector still provides good benefits, though Gilroy is on the low end in terms of benefits and salary compared to other local agencies. It isn't clear how long the current benefits are going to last. This is a small organization, and not nearly as bureaucratic as many larger agencies.
Cons
The City Council has become very negative toward employees, many are literally jealous of the benefits afforded employees. The local press is very negative towards the City workers. Current management is now basically "yes" men and women -- all the best people left or got laid off.
