Pros
If you are at the beginning of your career and want more responsibility early on - But be warned, they will take advantage of your inexperience and lack of understanding in drawing healthy work boundaries.
Cons
- Salary below market rate and no bonus - Career opportunities within the company are poor - Exceedingly high turnover, demonstrated by the fact that there are no juniors within their HK office at the time of writing - Senior management only knows how to micro-manage - Management regularly disparages former employees, both during meetings and in general conversation: This fact is illustrated in a review on this website by a member of senior management (dated 21 March 2022), stating: 'Not many have the stomach for what GIFT does nor the spirit to thrive.' - Inflexible work culture (there are many more examples, but these are what were top of mind): (1) Strict enforcement of the 9am start time - there is palpable tension in the air if you arrive a minute late. (2) The weekly team meeting is scheduled for 9am on a Monday morning - the expectation is that you get in earlier so that you are ready for the meeting at 9am. Early morning meetings before the start of the business day, as well as lunch meetings, should also be expected. (3) They do not trust you: If you work remotely, you are required to check-in at the beginning of the day, check out for lunch, check in again after lunch and check out at the end of day.
