Pros

Pay is decent, and the work itself isn't hard.

Cons

The company culture is incredibly sales-y. You sort of have to put on your office face when you're in the office. The general manager holds zoom calls that are 30-45 minutes where she repeats herself ad nauseam saying things that could've been summarized in a 3-sentence email. Every day she would have us set goals in terms of getting a certain number of donations, but the company's expectations don't properly account for the different variables at different stores we were set up in front of, so if I was set up at a PetSmart that had 25 customers come in over the course of the day I was judged (partially) the same as people who were set up at a Sam's Club that would have hundreds of people come through. Sometimes they have you get donations at a site with a coworker, and the quotas weren't indexed to those attempts at getting donations being halved. They were literally just that dense. I was told several times that bringing up these factors was just me having a negative attitude. The only reason I decided to work there was because I wanted to do something where I got to work with people and have a positive impact on the world. They're just there for the money. They call the donors "customers" and the donations "sales". They call the employees "performing bodies" and expect you to "overturn" 3 no's before giving up on a potential donor. 2 "objections" was seen as a "true no" and you had to go for a 3rd just for good measure. I'm not against that in principle, but there were a lot of times where I saw fundraisers attempt people who were quite clearly down on their luck in life and their persistence was just gross. The management is so dense that the lead fundraiser insisted one time that we set up the booth outside instead of in the air-conditioned vestibule at a Lowe's. It was 105 degrees outside and it was windy so we had to constantly hold the canopy so that it wouldn't blow away. For hours, people walked by telling us that we were stupid for expecting people to stand outside and listen to pitches about donating. The staff at that store was incredulous too. The management is so focused on the quota and they didn't set us up at places that would even allow for those numbers to be hit. There was one time where we set up outside a PetSmart that they'd not even gotten permission to set up in front of so we had to break down the booth and drive to different stores. And that wasn't accounted for in our "Key Performance Indicators". Basically the management is so dense that it literally negatively impacts the company. I only worked there for a month but in that short time I saw 3 new hires quit abruptly because the vibe was so off.

Pros

I started working at GIG USA about a month ago in an entry-level position, and so far it’s been a really solid experience! The onboarding process was smooth, and everyone’s been super friendly and helpful. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but the team made me feel welcome right away. The work is straightforward, the expectations are clear, and I’ve already started picking up some new skills! Management is easy to talk to, and they actually check in to see how things are going. Overall, a great place to start out and get your foot in the door!

Cons

Things can get repetitive, but that’s expected in an entry-level role.
