Pros
The environment was a conducive place to work in due to the other officers who serve the same purpose in trying to help the underserved community. As a programme officer, you will have lots of opportunities to work with the local indigenous communities in Malaysia and also the B40 community. You will also receive networking opportunities with stakeholders from funders to beneficiaries.
Cons
Since you are a programme officer, you will be overworked. The management cares little about your welfare. There are no benefits, bonus or salary increment regardless of how many years you have worked there. The CEO is the only person in the management, there is no admin or HR. CEO wants to be heavily involved in every little activities, has minimal trust in employees, loves to micromanage, expects you to reply instantaneously even though it is after work. There is no plan to the projects, they are all profit and marketing driven and not for the sake of beneficiaries. Projects have short term visions and goals with no substantial impact - very disappointing since most projects should be at least 3 years to develop impact. CEO refuses to listen to employees feedbacks but constantly has team brain storming session with no good outcome - time wasted.
