Pros
They are trying to accomplish something that has never been done before in the semiconductor industry - it is a huge challenge and there is un-ending work to do.
Cons
The industry wants a threat of an alternative to TSMC more than it actually wants an alternative. It is hard to compete on price if your primary fab is in upstate New York. The owners from the Middle East don't understand the industry, don't want to put in the cash required to even have a chance at success and have no path to exit.
