Pros

Genuine concern for training and advancing employees that want to put in the effort. Opportunities for lateral movement to different departments if it turns out you're better-suited for it. Benefits and pension plan where Golden West contributes as well. Excellent coworkers and team environment. Almost all hiring and promotions start within, providing more opportunities. Salary is a direct reflection of your talent, skills, motivation, and effort. A big emphasis on serving the local communities they're in. Have personally experienced outstanding mentoring and coaching, including honest criticism where needed. Progressive in adapting to changes in the industry and workplace. Lots of flexibility as far as taking time for medical appointments or personal things.

Cons

Workload can fluctuate. Plans and overall direction can change in response to client needs, or industry changes. As the company grows and hires more people, it can be difficult for upper management to connect directly with every employee (although they sure try hard!).

Budgets are ridiculous. Make it virtually impossible to make budget. Lack of training. Company wide less than 20% make annual budget.

Pros

Golden West is very focused on growing the community (listeners, businesses, charities, etc.). This provides a strong sense of purpose. The culture is very family-friendly and leadership encourages you to have a thriving life outside of work. While work sometimes falls outside of standard hours due to the nature of news, there is a focus on finding good work-life balance. The work itself is varied. There are many chances to try new things - whether it's building relationships with community stakeholders, learning new tasks in your current role, or growing into new positions.

Cons

Golden West moves quickly when needed, so people who don't like a fast pace may struggle
