Lack of good oversight or focused leadership allows for ability to have less ownership and less responsibilities. Ability to do any experiments.

Uninspired and unfocused biology. Lack of clarity of goals and teamwork. Lack of ownership of work and results. Not a fun place. Everyone seems on the verge of transitioning. Departments do not work well together and it seems like there is reason for a great exodus. Middle management in science departments are cliques of former bigger pharma employees that say really in appropriate (racist/sexist) things that make me uncomfortable. Program work is non existent. No promotions unless you are cutthroat and want to put others and their data in a bad light. Promotions and bonuses only go to those closest to the leadership team. Seems like lack of funds for really inspired work. Biology is unaligned with target validation team and biomarker work and the teams don’t seem to get along. Fast data wins over clear careful purposeful experiments. Veterans at the company are unable to inspire and mentor or coach. Unsupportive of parental leave or sick leave. The unlimited vacation is a scam as you don’t really have a real vacation or feel pressure when you do take time off. HR is untrustworthy and doesn’t offer support to improve work environment. Feigned connection with real biology work and patient advocacy or science outreach. Authoritarian leadership. Do we even work on Kidney anymore? Lack of diversity. Promotions are not merit based. Sad place now. Not what I signed up for.
