Cons
Usually there are no regular schedules available. One week you get 39, the next week 12. Given unrealistic work loads with little or no means to realistically accomplish them while still being held responsible for getting the tasks done. Example, placing 1,000 (yes, 1000) new pieces of clothing on racks every day with no room on the racks. If you bring this up, you get yelled at and told you're not keeping pace. But there's no room. Then you're told "ok we'll send someone out to help" but it's no use. There is no room. Or you're supposed to put out several hundred "new" housewares on shelves that are already stuffed, piled high with things. You start straightening up in order to make more room but then you get yelled at for "not keeping up the pace", criticized for not staying on task. Or you're on register and have to wait while a customer searches for their wallet, the manager magically appears out of nowhere, pushes you aside, and takes over the sale because you're "just not fast enough". Goodwill Industries is a FOR profit corporation, don't be fooled. It's all about sales, profit, and more profit. And store managers are given secret incentives if they have higher profits, hence the insanity.
