Growth Opportunities Available; Frustration Likely - Manager Goodwill Employee Review

Pros

The Goodwill mission alone is a great pro. The company does a lot of good to help those that are disabled and disadvantaged. There is a lot of room for growth, which in theory is a big pro, but unfortunately I think growth opportunities relate more so to cons.

Cons

Aggressive Regional managers that do as they please in search of meeting goals. Qualified managerial employees are pushed hard in a high employee turn-rate environment; they are expected to meet and exceed 100% of their job responsibilities and expectations while also including (but not limited to) filling in for and completing and exceeding 100% of the responsibilities for positions that are not filled, and always feeling the consequences for not performing fully in one or both/all roles. If highly qualified, be prepared to be sweet-talked into an introductory role (even if managerial) and wage. The promised role and wage in reality is seemingly never within sight. A corrective action is likely waiting for you at the beginning of your next shift. HR is fairly active, engaged, and present, but they want you to work through issues in the chain of command, so if for example your issue is with your Regional Manager's aggressiveness prepare for an uncomfortable chain of communications. HR stands for the Goodwill mission more than the employee. They always make clear that Goodwill employs for the store needs not the employees', regardless of how necessary any given employee or position may be to a specific location. They will move you without notice to any location they need you, and they need people everywhere. Growth is available because it's really truly hard to last without emotional and physical burnout.
