Pros

It's a pretty laid-back place - You can come in whenever and wear whatever. Unless you're really messing up and it's obviously never going to get better, you're not going to have any kind of real repercussions. There isn't really a PTO policy and people are mostly encouraged to take the time they need as long as it doesn't interfere with anything. It's a really good place to coast, if that's what you want. The insurance isn't too expensive and the 401k match is competitive. Most employees won't work more than 45-50 hours a week ever (at least if they're smart about how they manage their time). Like most companies, they occasionally have events - trivia night, chili cookoffs, pub crawls... so if you're the kind of person who needs work friend camaraderie this is a good place for that. I've found that most companies offer these types of events so I don't really think theirs sets them apart.

Cons

With a few exceptions, the people don't make good coworkers. It's a smaller company and banks on it's "culture," but there's a lot of political games, passive aggressive people, and ineffective leadership. My training was nonexistent, with one person going so far as to flat out lie in response to my questions. I told both my manager and HR and nothing was ever done. I never felt my colleagues actually wanted me to succeed - and that was a sentiment that was echoed in varying degrees from new employees in other areas as well. I enjoy working with people I can learn from and I never felt like there was a collaborative environment. No training/development except for what current employees will lead - who have also not received any real training. People are promoted to managers or leads and have no idea what they're doing and no way to learn unless they foot the bill themselves. When I left here and started a new job, I realized how much my professional growth had stalled during the time I spent at Gorilla Group. A common complaint was feeling lied to throughout the interview process and/or being lowballed. They are notoriously cheap. Promises made throughout the interview process were not kept. They have a ton of money wasted in write-offs. Even though they're on the Crain's Fast Fifty every year, the amount of money they make relative to the number of employees is lower than competitors in the same space. I was slightly concerned about their financial outlook.
