Pros

The company has some great people working for it.

Cons

Long days of hard work, but that is to be expected. A few areas of improvement (1) They don't pay for parking. Every other AV company that I have ever worked for paid for parking. They are passing on their business expense to their employees. (2) If you meet at the warehouse/shop to go to a gig, you should be on the clock from the time you meet at the shop. Every other AV company that I have ever worked for pays you from the time you meet at the shop, not just the driver until you arrive on site. (3) Some of the older employees who are Design Managers are jaded and are quite rude to the newer people in the company. (4) Their hourly rates is kind of low. That is compounded by the fact that most of the gigs are hours away and they treat load in and load out as separate calls. You could be gone from your house for 21 hours. Subtract 2.5 hours each way for travel which you don't get paid for. Subtract 6 or 7 hours for the time the show is happening, and you're only getting paid for 9 or 10 hours when you were gone from your house 21 hours. Something's wrong with that.

Pros

Management is kind, considerate and caring. They are very accommodating for part-time employees that are enrolled in college. During busy season, they sometimes provide meals.

Cons

Warehouse gets pretty cold in the winter.

Pros

- Some very detailed/complicated sets. It's cool to be a part of creative projects in upscale settings. - I like some of the systems they have in place, like the binders make things easy on-site, as someone who wasn't involved in any of the planning for events. - Some of the regulars are cool people. - If this is your first AV job, you may get sucked in and turned into a lifer. - They bring cases of water bottles to every gig which is cool. Also a meal is often provided.

Cons

- Some very detailed/complicated sets. Building some of the designs is a PITA. - Almost cult-like vibe from the managers and core employees. - It's not a company you can use to fill in gaps in your schedule with. You either commit and take all the gigs, or you get left behind. - They will try to book you like 2 months in advance for a half day and if you turn down too much of it they will phase you out. I get it, I'd be fine booking like a full week of day rates with a company months in advance, but just a single day that far ahead can end up losing you a lot of opportunity money. - Annoying use of specialized terminology for almost everything. - Orientation was a waste of time. - Not the best reputation in the bay area from past employees. - Sometimes too many people wearing the "project manager" hat.
