Pros

It is a dynamic place to work, you will learn a lot and will meet all sorts of people from various backgrounds. Find a Nurse that can be a true mentor because Grady is definitely the place to learn and grow. They were rebranding when I started, and have a lot of good things planned. Most people are onboard with the culture they are trying to create. It is respected for patient outcomes. They have a nice cafeteria and nice incentives as part of the benefits plan.

Cons

It is a public hospital, where most of it's customers are insured through Medicaid or Medicare, therefore, expect lower pay. Sometimes, people's backgrounds make them difficult to work with, for example some Nurse's had extremely bad people skills, and I was often embarrassed by how they spoke to their patients and found myself having to work harder to build rapport and trust with the patient, so they'd say good things or come back. I recommend ignoring the staff that are still in their learning curve or only there for the money. I couldn't afford their employer health plan for my family due to the low pay.

Pros

City with a lot of trauma and sick people, great place to get experience. Prehospital blood program. Looks great on a resume.

Cons

Lagging compared to scope of the rest of the country. Won’t pay for training outside of scheduled work hours. Very little to no hands on training outside of new hire or those selected to ride QRV or other promoted positions. Poor and inconsistent communication from leadership about roll outs or other events. Current leadership is more focused on meeting numbers than creating a good culture at work.
