Pros

90 years of rich history, financial strength and innovation at the forefront. Career opportunity expansive with wide range of divisions best suited to your strengths. Have appreciated the active engagement across departments and the commitment of top executives to be present, involved and always accessible.

Cons

This is the fourth insurance company I've had the pleasure of working for. It also happens to be the smallest of the four and by far the best. Nothing to comment here on the 'cons' side.

Pros

Mutual company, no reporting to Wall Street, excellent CEO and Senior Leadership team are accessible and generally kind. Great culture, work/life balance is encouraged and not just words on paper

Cons

Smaller organization means a flatter hierarchy, fewer opportunities to advance.

Pros

Business causal environment when we have to go into the office

Cons

Constantly adding high paying directors and made up positions but you keep shrinking the people that are responsible for bringing in the business that actually make money. More and more are promoted to these glorified secretarial roles that are not needed but keep reducing the amount of underwriters. You could hire several underwriters for one of those high salary positions.
