Pros

Coworkers are great. There are a lot of amazingly talented people doing their best to make Granite the best it can be. The company makes huge contributions to local charities - almost entirely based on employee suggestions. Each Friday employees pay $3+ to wear jeans. That money goes to a charity and the company matches each donation dollar for dollar.

Cons

The atmosphere is one of fear. From temps to seasoned employees, almost everyone is afraid that at any moment, their jobs will suddenly evaporate. The COO walks around the company "saying hello" to everyone. Whether this is his intention or not, it feels like he is checking up on every single employee. The way teams and departments are structured fosters competition both between and within teams. Teams blame each other for mistakes and try to take credit for each others' successes. If something goes wrong, upper management's first interest is finding out who made the mistake rather than how to fix it or prevent it from happening again. An example of the unhealthy competition that's encouraged, during a team meeting, the COO demanded that two people who had worked together on a project and received an recognition as a team to compete for a single $25 gift card rather than give them each the respect they deserved.

Pros

No pros what so ever.

Cons

This company and specifically the collections department have very little opportunity for growth, despite what may be promised during the hiring process. Honestly, it’s a circus. Non stop tasks are thrown at employees each day. And Goals are constantly increased so analyst can’t reach them. Employees who work hard and consistently perform well often find themselves stuck in the same position with no clear path for advancement. Promotions and opportunities never appear to be based on performance or merit. Management is one of the biggest issues. They have no clue. Favoritism is prevalent, and certain employees seem to receive special treatment, better opportunities, and more support than others. This creates a frustrating and discouraging work environment where many employees feel undervalued and overlooked. Morale suffers when performance and dedication are overlooked in favor of personal relationships and when there is little accountability for management and no transparency regarding career development. Communication from leadership is lacking, and employee concerns are not addressed. Management gets defensive when employees ask questions or disagree with their stupid decisions. Overall, it can be a VERY challenging place to build a longterm career if you are looking for fair treatment, professional growth, and strong leadership. Turnover rate is very high. Also, micro management is at an all time high. Would not even recommend this place to a college grad for entry level experience, if i could Put 0 stars, i would. For the sake of your mental health, stay far away.
