Pros

I've worked at Granite going on 2 years now and I couldn't be happier. Granite has a team atmosphere and is a very philanthropic company; the two going hand in hand. Granite offers employees interesting work in a cutting-edge industry with a clear path to advancement as well as good compensation (including regular company-wide bonuses tied to how well Granite is doing . . . everyone shares in Granite's consistent and continuing success) and good benefits (e.g., 401K plan and healthcare). Granite provides a much better work life balance than I have had in my prior jobs, typically Monday through Friday and only seldomly needing to work nights or weekends (a handful of weekend days in 2 years), with a generous number of paid time off (PTO) days from day one. I plan to stay at Granite for a long time and continue to contribute to and benefit from its continuing track record of impressive growth.

Cons

None (except for the commute . . . I should live closer to work or live closer to a T stop, Granite is within walking distance to the redline and a lot of employees commute using the T).

Pros

No pros what so ever.

Cons

This company and specifically the collections department have very little opportunity for growth, despite what may be promised during the hiring process. Honestly, it’s a circus. Non stop tasks are thrown at employees each day. And Goals are constantly increased so analyst can’t reach them. Employees who work hard and consistently perform well often find themselves stuck in the same position with no clear path for advancement. Promotions and opportunities never appear to be based on performance or merit. Management is one of the biggest issues. They have no clue. Favoritism is prevalent, and certain employees seem to receive special treatment, better opportunities, and more support than others. This creates a frustrating and discouraging work environment where many employees feel undervalued and overlooked. Morale suffers when performance and dedication are overlooked in favor of personal relationships and when there is little accountability for management and no transparency regarding career development. Communication from leadership is lacking, and employee concerns are not addressed. Management gets defensive when employees ask questions or disagree with their stupid decisions. Overall, it can be a VERY challenging place to build a longterm career if you are looking for fair treatment, professional growth, and strong leadership. Turnover rate is very high. Also, micro management is at an all time high. Would not even recommend this place to a college grad for entry level experience, if i could Put 0 stars, i would. For the sake of your mental health, stay far away.
