Pros

-Very convenient. Located right next to North Quincy station. Not in the city but just outside. Great location. So many places to grab lunch in the area (on the 1 hour lunch break we get), as well as run a quick errand to the stores that surround us. The 1 hour is really helpful. -Outstanding charity work done by the CEO/company as a whole. Really makes you feel good about yourself just to be a part of a company that does so much for the community/many foundations. They even have a casual day each Friday where you get to wear jeans and sneakers as long as you pay $3 to the charity of that day. I thought it was weird at first to have to pay for my casual clothing when most companies get it for free but it's not like you HAVE to wear jeans. If you prefer not to do a good deed by donating to a great cause, you can wear your business attire that you wear Monday-Thursday! -They teach you a lot about time management. You can not be late or tardy EVER. I'm pretty sure you get 2 or 3 warnings and then you get kicked to the curb. They are very, very strict when it comes to being on time for work. 8am on the dot you need to be in the building and most supervisors make sure you are already at your desk. Knowing Granite has been hiring a lot of recent college grads lately, it's good to get them in the habit of being on time. It's always good to be early for something, but never good to be late. Some people would put this under the Con category but I think it's a good life lesson. -Free gift cards, company luncheons, T-shirts, etc when we hit goals! I got a free $25 Apple gift card and I didn't do a dang thing for it! Everyone in the entire company got to choose between 10 customers that are with Granite that we want a $25 gift card too. Other choices were Cheesecake Factory, Simon, TJ Max, Whole Foods, Dunkin Donuts and more! If one team hits a large goal that the CEO/COO sets, everyone gets rewarded! We also get random bonuses for hitting specific goals. Only bad part about it is when the taxes are taken out..a $1,000 bonus turns out to be a little over 500 bucks. -Everyone (for the most part) is dressed business attire Monday-Thursday. Shirt and tie with dress pants and dress shoes for guys and nice dress pants and tops or dresses for the girls. It gives off a nice corporate feel. And just like the time management, it gets you ready for the real world if it's your first big-kid job out of college!

Cons

-Not enough days off in the year. Expected to work some holidays such as Veteran's Day and Columbus Day. Even when we have vets who work here. We SOMETIMES get the day after Thanksgiving off if we hit a goal but some years we have to work it. Most companies I know get it off automatically. Then again we are a utility company & Black Friday is very important. We need employees here to work for when phone lines go down. Which leads me to my next con... -State of emergencies, you have to be here. Even when you live an hour away like me. If you can't make it, you have to use one of your vacation days. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I was called crazy by all my family and friends when I spent an entire 8 hours at work this year on a state of emergency blizzard. I "had" to be here when I barely did anything but sit on my cellphone I was so bored...not to mention I risked my life driving here in a tiny car with no 4WD. -The parking lot is a MESS come 5 o'clock. Any day of the week. And twice as bad on Friday's. There's a stampede. Over 800 people in one building can give you anxiety running out all at once to leave. There's a handful of people who will wait 15 minutes (off the clock) just so they can walk to their car and get out of the parking lot in peace. -Favoritism

Cons

This company and specifically the collections department have very little opportunity for growth, despite what may be promised during the hiring process. Honestly, it’s a circus. Non stop tasks are thrown at employees each day. And Goals are constantly increased so analyst can’t reach them. Employees who work hard and consistently perform well often find themselves stuck in the same position with no clear path for advancement. Promotions and opportunities never appear to be based on performance or merit. Management is one of the biggest issues. They have no clue. Favoritism is prevalent, and certain employees seem to receive special treatment, better opportunities, and more support than others. This creates a frustrating and discouraging work environment where many employees feel undervalued and overlooked. Morale suffers when performance and dedication are overlooked in favor of personal relationships and when there is little accountability for management and no transparency regarding career development. Communication from leadership is lacking, and employee concerns are not addressed. Management gets defensive when employees ask questions or disagree with their stupid decisions. Overall, it can be a VERY challenging place to build a longterm career if you are looking for fair treatment, professional growth, and strong leadership. Turnover rate is very high. Also, micro management is at an all time high. Would not even recommend this place to a college grad for entry level experience, if i could Put 0 stars, i would. For the sake of your mental health, stay far away.
