Pros
- finally embracing some newer technologies. New versions of Java and big data Hadoop taking off - training : sent a dozen devs to Denver for training for a few months to learn state-of-art programming - some good engineers on the backend which can get some good work done - Very very good staff in infrastucture teams. Not much ego. Really enjoy working with team - office is better than most places I've worked at. Less stressful and boring but predictable
Cons
- 3 recent VP hires are just PM-based and really didn't earn their hires. Were brought in by networking. Not technical even though in IT center. have not seen any meaningful contributions. - place is just a dumping ground for former 5/3 management and former HP and PG people. - low compensation. Company making money now hand over fist and awarded employees extra day off as bonus yet 2 % merit raises. - career advancement sucks. Most devs have not been giving promotions in over 5 years and top off at Sr or Lead levels . Project managers move up ladder MUCH faster - parking situation really sucks. End up walking over a half mile each way every day to get affordable parking. Downtown area sucks. Homeless camps across street. People living in bushes. Beggars always in front of building daily.
