Kenmore, WA Grocery Outlet: Most disappointing job I've ever had - Cashier Grocery Outlet Employee Review

Pros

Really nice customers; a few great co-workers; great prices; great selection of healthy and organic foods & products.

Cons

Moody, unprofessional owner who makes clear her favorite and least favorite people. Employees are micro-managed and treated like untrustworthy children. .. e.g., not allowed to know the daily break schedule and often forced to go without breaks for more than 3 hours - especially if you've been so bold as to kindly ask when you might get a break. Cashiers not allowed to talk to other cashiers, not even about the job, during working hours. Cashiers forced to endure blinding, hot sun from front windows without a break and not allowed to have any beverage at hand (not even bottled water.) There is lack of communication regarding changes in prices or products and no consistency between supervisors regarding what is expected or how things should be done. Employees are always made to look and feel incompetent or foolish in front of customers. There was a big issue with sexual harassment between two other employees but managers did not want to deal with it so they ignored it. It was very much a hostile, unhappy environment for many of us but everyone is afraid to say anything for fear of losing their job or being in a worse situation than already exists.

Pros

Nearby, always had mandated breaks. Had a close friend death occur and recieved immediate time off and support from one manager.

Cons

Very little training given, minor mistakes at other companies equal write-ups here, inefficient retraining, and 2/3rds of upper management ignoring me and acting immature for my final week because I quit
