Pros

Flashy office, fringe benefits like beer in the office, free food, and big screen TVs.

Cons

Writing this review because it's not fair that the slew of current employee reviews written in the same week push the honest reviews back. It almost makes you think they were directed to write them! The CEO is a complete narcissist. Everything he does is aimed at making himself look special, even if it's a complete waste of money or superficial. The flashy office belies an under-experienced staff who are billed out at experienced rates. They make significant mistakes at client expense. They over promise and under deliver, consistently. They push employees to (unethically) post positive reviews of the company, as opposed to fixing the problems that cause the negative reviews in the first place. It should tell you something that there are recurring get-togethers for past employees, with the common purpose of bashing their former employer. Attendees include employees who have been fired, quit, and laid off. The commonality is they don't work there anymore, and no one misses it. The hiring mantra there seems to be "hire two, fire one." Nobody is valued, regardless of what they're told, and anyone can be thrown under the bus if someone is making the CEO look bad (deserved or not). The sales team will promise anything to get a signed contract. There is an expectation of long hours for the benefit of the company, but compensation is too low to attract more experienced professionals who know or respect their worth and time-value. And the "acquisitions" made to grow the firm were simply friends of the CEO whose own companies were failing and a way for them to save face. The CEO is the precise opposite of a leader. He hides when he should get in front of an issue. He throws people to the wolves when his name is on the line. He blames people for his own mis-management when things go wrong. You can't trust him.

Pros

- Really smart and collaborative core team that supports each other. - Ability to work on brands that are really interesting and challenge you. - Great office location with a hybrid focus so you get a nice balance of in office and remote. Very flexible work schedules. - Many strategic leadership moves have occurred in the last 12 months to position the company for growth. - Leadership is always available and listens. They value what you have to say and work with you.

Cons

- Lots of fast moving projects and engagements can be challenging for some who are not used to agency life. - Not every client is a good client to work with and some times you can get bogged down with difficult clients. - With all of the changes in the last 12 months, there is a lot to figure out. Some growing pains because of this but nothing that is too major to deal with.

Pros

I worked at Groove Commerce for 7 years, starting as an Account Manager and eventually moving into operations/client delivery. Groove is a growing agency that provides an open door to advance in your career and explore different options. Over my time there I met so many coworkers who helped me learn and grow - the best part about Groove. You get to interact with so many experts on their area of expertise, design, development, marketing and more. Pay is generous and competitive, and there are remote work options. 100% employer paid insurance premiums and paid parental leave. PTO has always been more than enough and includes rollover. If you have the agency's back, the agency will have yours. Busyness can come and go in waves, but overall I felt a good work/life balance the majority of the time. This is not an agency where people are working into the night or on weekends. I moved through several phases of life (buying a house, getting married, having a baby) while at Groove and felt supported and celebrated through each phase. The CEO truly cares about the well-being of his staff and I have seen that demonstrated time and time again. The important of taking care of your staff is a lesson I will take with me for the rest of my career.

Cons

Agencies in general can be tough. If you can't handle tough clients and tough deadlines, Groove (or any agency) may not be for you. Depending on your role, there is a billable hours expectation, and if you have not worked for an agency before you may not enjoy that aspect.
