Very Unorganized - Engineering Technician Ground Engineering Consultants Employee Review

The training at this company was severely lacking. The role itself is incredibly complex, but instead of providing structured, comprehensive training, they rushed through important information without ensuring any real understanding. What little I did learn was inconsistent and often contradictory. There was no clear direction, and the tools provided were either broken or poorly maintained, with no guidance on how to use them. My manager, Brian, made the situation significantly worse. He was aggressive, hostile, and unprofessional. On multiple occasions, he threw objects across his office, screamed, and used profanity. His behavior created a toxic and intimidating work environment. Rather than offering constructive feedback or support, he resorted to personal insults and belittling remarks. Once I completed the so-called training, I was sent into the field alone with no practical knowledge of how to perform my job. Despite expressing my concerns, they dismissed them and left me to figure things out on my own. The working conditions were also unacceptable — I was expected to carry heavy buckets of concrete for long distances without proper tools or assistance. It’s no surprise that the company experiences nearly a 100% turnover rate in technicians every summer. They make no effort to retain employees, address their concerns, or provide a safe and supportive environment. The lack of support, combined with the toxic management, made this one of the worst professional experiences I’ve had. I would strongly caution anyone considering a role here to think twice. The company clearly has no interest in setting employees up for success.
