Pros

People! Some of the best and brightest people work at Grove and I've made connections that I'll never forget. These people were the center of any good experience I had at the company – encouraging and supportive team members who were all commiserating in the same grind. Mission driven; but to be honest in my time with the company I watched them shift to less sustainable working flows (AI – which I know is the standard now but still) & less sustainable packaging and products, all for financial gain. Unlimited PTO was nice (but also there are politics around this policy because don't take too much!) Pretty good pay, but not a great bonus structure and no 401k match.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations of team members. Everyone I worked with at Grove was stretched above and beyond a comfortable capacity. Everyone was GRINDING everyday with no reprieve & to be honest not much recognition or financial gain/benefits. It's not like we could work really hard for a bonus, because the bonus was contingent on how the entire company did, and with that the amount was minimal. Employees stayed stressed out. Layoffs happened over and over and over and over again.

Pros

There are some really good, smart people to work with at Grove. Decent pay. All expenses paid trip to the annual company meeting in San Francisco. Employee discount on all products we sell and we also got samples of some of the Grove Co brand products that we developed. Small, scrappy teams – opportunities to help out on lots of cool projects.

Cons

There are also some really not smart people working there, and unfortunately they're director level managers and up. Lots of bad decisions from bad managers which led to layoffs literally every 3 months. Lots money wasted on redundant systems, inefficient workflow and operations processes leading to botched product launches and products going out of stock. Absolutely disasterous Shopify transition — that whole team should be gutted.
