Pros

Flexible work, life /work balance, reasonable compensation even if slightly below others, lots of PTO of you make it happen, good parental leave, ability to take unpaid time off you want, great coworkers.

Cons

Compensation can be slightly lower than competitors. Technical side has been bleeding its best people for years and replaced the best experienced people with college grads. You have to be vigilant, otherwise the life /work balance can disappear and you'll work too much. Upper management doesn't really understand what their working force is doing. More concerned with winning with than being able to do the work. Integrity is one of the core values, but after one merger, we layed off around a hundred people over for rounds of layoffs; immediately after the last round of layoffs, the CEO sent out an email lying and saying we completed the merger without laying off a single person, which was incredibly disrespectful and showed a real lack of integrity.

Pros

I work directly with excellent people. My immediate colleagues are collaborative, capable, and committed to doing high-quality work for clients.

Cons

The biggest challenges tend to come from the corporate side of the organization. Corporate processes and communication can sometimes feel disconnected from the needs of project teams, which creates unnecessary friction. In addition, benefits that were once stronger, including 401(k) matching and medical coverage, have been significantly reduced. A recent example is the increased emphasis on “utilization rates” in merit increases. While utilization is understandable in a consulting environment, tying it too heavily to merit can effectively penalize employees for using earned vacation time and can make PTO feel less like a real benefit.
