Pros
At the store level, the people you work with are the best thing about this organization. There is a strong sense of friendship and family between team members. Next? Employee discount. After that? Just being around the gear is cool. I mean, there is also the militant fashion the organization expects its stores to function. But
Cons
I came into this organization with high hopes that if I worked my way up, I could be the harbinger of change, but almost everyday of the last years of my career I was forced to watch silently as the company increase its unreasonable expectations of its store level employees with little or no positive change to compensation and watched as the senior leadership up top continued to have a say in the direction of the company despite hitting iceberg after iceberg. I can't be the only person who feels like something is wrong. More and more on my FB news feed I see people at the store level and at the office jumping off the USS CEO-a-thon before it hits its last iceberg. The company recently did a survey veiled in a seemingly positive effort to hear the voices of its employees. Unfortunately, the survey results came back and the things that employees were loudest about got ignored. The reality is, for what the company asks you to do here, you can do elsewhere for more compensation. If you don't care about that because you're passionate about selling the greatest feeling on earth, then you're welcome to let the company milk every penny of that passion. Although your direct supervisor might seem to appreciate and care about you, the man/woman behind the curtain clearly doesn't.
