Pros
hours are available if you want them
decent pay if you work 60+hrs a week
work too many 100+hr weeks in a row and you will get an email from corporate concerned about your health
room for advancement, although the next position may not be much of a raise and a lot more responsibility/ paperwork/ headache
Cons
once you have proven yourself reliable, answering the phone for emergency response services, the duty schedule gets ignored and managers will just call those people who answer the phone, understandable not wanting to waste time calling people that do not answer, especially in a real emergency situation
corporatized environment, got worse over the years, people that were not pulling their weight could not be fired
perpetually under staffed, would make the company not want to fire those who were not performing
shop manager at the time of covid let personal beliefs(fear) dictate response, masks in office alone and other stupid policies
worked so much overtime that moving from supervisor to manager was actually going to be a pay cut
