Pros
-The lab takes on a wide variety of interesting projects, which benefits fully-fledged conservators as well as those looking for a way to learn. -Several key members have worked with the lab for decades. -The lab is well equipped. -It might (?) be possible to work one's way to bench-trained conservator status here, since that is how the older generation of conservators all attained their titles. However, it would take a long time, and lately new hires have been required to hold degrees in conservation.
Cons
-Within ECS, effective communication, leadership, and training are lacking. -There is a prevalent, longstanding culture of passive aggression that will require at least 3-4 determined long-term conservators to overturn. -The lab historically has earned its reputation as a dysfunctional workplace; this is exacerbated by its position within a larger company that does not fully understand or value the mission of conservation.
