Avoid working at HNTB - Engineer HNTB Employee Review

I had a very disappointing experience working at HNTB. Despite years of dedication and consistently taking on responsibilities beyond my role, I was repeatedly overlooked for promotion. When I did seek advancement, the process was discouraging and unprofessional—I was dismissed without constructive feedback and left feeling undervalued. To make matters worse, I was eventually placed on “business necessity leave” and then laid off. This left me without clarity, stability, or respect from the company. The way HNTB handled the separation showed little regard for the impact on employees’ lives and well-being. While there are talented individuals at the firm, my personal experience was one of poor leadership, lack of support for career growth, and a culture that does not value loyalty or hard work. I would caution anyone considering employment here to carefully weigh how the company treats its employees beyond just the projects they showcase.
