Pros
Good pay for people who know how to negotiate
Cons
Some managers prioritize status and control over genuinely supporting their teams, at times using people for personal gain. Trust in leadership is fragile, with many feeling that unqualified managers leave employees undervalued and unsupported.
Appraisals feel unfair because they evaluate performance on recent incidents rather than a full year’s work. And to add insult to injury, after a full year of overtime and late nights at the office, the one thing keeping many of us going was the promise of that end-of-year bonus. To then find out it won’t be paid directly but through installments, and that we now have to spend another year proving we deserved it, feels like a betrayal of trust and a slap in the face to everyone who gave everything they had.
Real leadership is about humility, guidance, and empowering others, not titles.
