Pros
- Lack of follow up by management makes it easy to slack - Coworkers are nice (most of them) - Daily opportunities to laugh at the irony of 'smart' in the company name - No internet filtering or monitoring (youtube all day)
Cons
- Upper management are totally incompetent with regard to product strategy and employee morale - Wages, vacation and benefits are below industry averages; working hours are longer than average - Family nepotism in upper management - Software development 'process' (there isn't one) is a prime example of how NOT to develop software - The code is a total disaster and working on it is frustrating, boring and makes you want to kill yourself - No benefits in Canada (dental nor health). For 2 years mgmt has blatantly lied that they've been 'working on it'. - Bonuses are not paid out when the company hits revenue targets, even when employment contracts unambiguously state the bonus amounts to be paid for those revenue targets. - No recognition for quantity or quality of work. Initiative and creativity is not encouraged. - Salary raises: small to none
