Pros

- Pensions - Bonus at the end of the year which most tech companies don't do (can't really think of much else that counts as "Pros, which isn't a good sign)

Cons

- As a software product manager, definitely don't join HSBC Digital (or whatever it's called now as they rebrand every 18 months) unless you are in your fifties and looking to just have any job before you retire - Slow slow moving company trying to digitise its analogue processes - Doesn't understand innovation in the B2C retail baking software space - Lots of colleagues were "B players" not doing their best and just there for the stability, leaves at 5pm without caring about the quality of what they do. - Too many people doing "busy work" that has no end user benefit. Perhaps 50% of the staff can (or indeed should) go elsewhere so they can actually find enjoyment in what they do rather than pretend to do useful work at HSBC.

Pros

Good, smart colleagues in other offices.

Cons

At times, decisions appeared to prioritize individual objectives over team needs, which affected collaboration and morale. Greater consideration of team perspectives and shared goals would help build trust and engagement. I observed instances where expectations communicated to the team were not consistently reflected in leadership actions. Greater consistency between stated values and day-to-day decisions would strengthen credibility and confidence within the team.
