Pros

This company is ok to start at when you just get out of hair school for experience. Just pay your dues, get in, and get out. Walk in clientele is good for making sure you get clients in your chair.

Cons

Hmm where do you begin with this long list? First off, compensation is terrible because the service prices are cheap. You will bust your back to hit commission, which puts you just a little bit over minimum wage, especially where I was, it was almost all haircuts. As a shift leader, I was only paid an extra $10 a week to do all the same work as the assistant leader and salon leader, sometimes I even did more, so that compensation is basically slave wages and a slap in the face. Many times when there was a walk in color, I was told to turn it away because for whatever reason they were prioritizing the haircuts. How does that make any sense whatsoever, and doesn't that go against ethics and walk in policy? My salon would always give innaccurate wait times, telling clients it was a 15 minute wait instead of the realistic wait of 45-1 hour. This results in a lot of pissed clients and pressured stylists. The permanent color line they use is redken color gels., and it has fairly poor grey coverage, a strong smell, and an ugly dull finish. They only use it because it's cheap. You will work all sorts of scattered hours at all times of day, 7 days a week, so that makes it difficult to have a life. Management is unprofessional, talks behind your back, childish, and lazy. It's pretty hard to take your leaders seriously when they gossip and treat you like crap. I kept my mouth shut about it because I'm polite and just wanted to focus on my main job, making my client happy. I have heard them talking about me multiple times behind my back. In all honesty, I was a great employee, hard worker and a talented stylist and they took advantage of me. I have never felt so unappreciated at a job that I tried so hard at, and never had to deal with such unprofessional management. I love doing hair but this job almost made me stop wanting to do it forever.

Cons

Sometimes it gets so busy, you can't eat lunch if you do not block of time in advance. That's to be expected at most salons though.
