Pros

Some of the individual contributors that work here are the best I've ever known. I'm so happy I met them.

Cons

- I was yelled at a few different times. Nothing was done to stop the behavior. I never even got an apology. It was supposedly accepted in the culture. - I had to re-live my high school and middle school experience every day at Handshake. The passive aggressive bullying, the whispering, the gossip. I still have nightmares about it to this day, and I left the company months ago. I'm hoping that writing this out for the world to see will help stop my nightmares. - The people who had been at Handshake for awhile were very defensive and skeptical of the new people coming in. It was very isolating, and it made me feel - as someone who was newer - that I wasn't ever going to be accepted. And when I left the company, most employees treated me as if they never knew me. It made me wonder what lies they spread about me when I left, or if they were scared to treat me like a friend. - The leadership ruins the potential for a positive work environment for everyone. This includes directors, VPs, and C-level. Not all of them - some of them I really admire and respect. But most made my life a living hell during my tenure at Handshake. I cried almost every day I worked there.

Pros

It's flexible and sometimes the money is OK. I got paid most of what they owed me.

Cons

Generally disorganized. The task I was on was one of the more highly paid ones but it was almost impossible to actually do in the allotted time. You aren't supposed to use AI but I think people must. The tasks run far over the time they are supposed to take. The human review system also seemed almost arbitrary. Reviewers did not have the subject matter expertise they claimed to. You will make less than the advertised hourly rate because the tasks routinely take longer than they say they will. If they have averages that are lower, those people are either not submitting accurate hours (there is incentive not to) or are using AI to train AI, which is a bigger problem (but not yours).
