Pros

Very few, decent health insurance.

Cons

This review pertains to the shareholder services group. This is the biggest group within Harbor Funds and mostly contains new college graduates. Unfortunately, the shareholder services group is also the worst group by far to work in. Pretty Bad: The pay here is incredibly low, I was in the low 30 thousand range while I was there. Any “promotion” or cost of living increase results in such a small pay raise I barely noticed it in my paycheck. I literally almost doubled my salary when I left and took the job I’m currently at. It Gets Worse: Most of the jobs there are mindless and so easy that they have their interns doing the same work as full-time employees. You don’t develop any marketable job skills or working experience that any other employer would actually be looking for. Even though the work is very easy you will be “micromanaged” or harassed to the point where you can barely breathe. The work you do is scored and graded on a daily basis. They go as far as looking at how you sort e-mail in outlook or the way you sign an internal e-mail you send. This becomes miserable pretty quickly. The absolute worst thing about this place though is the culture there. The higher ups and some managers constantly gossip and openly make fun of employees that are decades younger than them and just starting their first job. I was totally disgusted by this. The position your applying for became open due to the high turnover rate there because of the things mentioned above…. Hold out for a job that pays a livable wage, or at least one where there’s even a little bit of respect for the employees.
